“The latest research supports the notion that we have a natural ability to change the brain and body by thought alone, so that it looks biologically like some future event has already happened. Because you can make thought more real than anything else, you can change who you are from brain cell to gene, given the right understanding.”

Growing research into the field of psychoneuroimmunology (the study of the connection between psychological processes and the nervous and immune systems of the body), is now confirming what ancient civilisations have always known. These findings are confirming the power our minds and our thoughts have on our health outcomes. Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurvedic Medicine for example, have always considered the mind as being integral to the treatment of physical illness.

Thanks to the research and work of a growing body of mind-body medicine proponents such as medical doctor Bruce Lipton (PhD), neuroscientist Candace Pert (PhD), neuroscience expert Dr. Joe Dispenza, researcher Lynne McTaggart as well as the research coming from HeartMath® Institute, mind-body medicine is finally becoming mainstream (again).

In his book “The Biology of Belief” (2015) Bruce Lipton (PhD) explains that “thoughts, the mind’s energy, directly influence how the physical brain controls the body’s physiology. Thought “energy” can activate or inhibit the cell’s function-producing proteins via the mechanics of constructive and destructive interference.”

He goes on to say that “when we change the way we perceive the world, that is, when we ‘change our beliefs’, we change the blood’s neurochemical composition, which then initiates a complementary change in the body’s cells. The function of the mind is to create coherence between our beliefs and the reality we experience.”

New understandings in quantum physics have also shown how the mind affects the body on a quantum level. In his book “Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself” (2012), neuroscience expert Dr. Joe Dispenza describes how mind-body medicine can be explained through quantum physics:

“Like clay, the energy of infinite possibilities is shaped by consciousness: your mind. And if all matter is made of energy, it makes sense that consciousness (‘mind’, in this case, as Newton and Descartes called it) and energy (‘matter’ according to the quantum model) are so intimately related that they are one. Mind and matter are completely entangled. Your consciousness (mind) has effects on energy (matter) because your consciousness is energy and energy has consciousness. You are powerful enough to influence matter because at the most elementary level, you are energy with a consciousness. You are mindful matter.”

Mind-Body Connection Coaching can help shed light on how powerful your mind and your thoughts truly are. Simple mind-body medicine techniques can help you step out of negative downward spirals and rewire your mind to produce positive health outcomes.
